Film Internship Summer 2019

My name is Reggie Varnado II. I’m 22 years old, and from Augusta, GA. I currently attend the University of West Georgia majoring in Film & Video Production and my expected graduation date is Fall 2020. In my free time, I like to listen to music, go to the gym, hang out with my friends, play video games, and watch TV. A little more about me:I’m really easy going, I love making new friends, and uncovering new stories.

As far as experience in the industry, I don’t have much at all. I haven’t made any short films or been in any student projects, I’m still confident in my abilities and talents to make it far. My first experience with film production was as a production assistant on a student film this past year. It was so interesting to see what it takes to bring everything together. Since then, I’ve been working on creating a podcast, a YouTube channel, and a Soundcloud. That short film experience inspired me to create and make a name for myself. I finally saw what my creativity could do. I learned quickly that in this business, having anything under your belt is better than nothing.

Initially, I planned on moving to L.A. after school because I always dreamed of living and working there in that city. Now that Atlanta’s film industry is growing exponentially, I decided to stay in Georgia after graduation. I would say, my biggest goal is to be an EGOT winner. For those who may not be familiar with the term, an EGOT winner are those who won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, but in no particular order.

I think that Atlanta being so familiar and close to my family and friends, were huge factors in planning to stay. Also realizing so many productions being filmed and ran through the state of Georgia shows that it’s a very promising market.

I have many goals set for myself and some of those goals I plan to achieve while working in the film industry. I would say, my biggest goal is to be an EGOT winner. For those who may not be familiar with the term, an EGOT winner are those who won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, but in no particular order. I want and plan on being as involved in the entertainment industry as much as I possibly can. It’s easier said than done, but I’m confident and dedicated to the hard work to get to where I want to be. To take it up a notch, I also want to win either a Peabody Award or Pulitzer Prize or both. Currently there are only three people in the world with the honor of PEGOT recipients, and I plan on becoming one of them.
